Split Rock 'Pleiospilos nellii'

Miniature, slow growing succulent. Forms single head 8cm across in 3 to 4 years. Plant in well drained soil. Outdoors in pots under cover. Indoors in strong sunlight. Full sun or partial shade. Water every second week in warmer months. Will tolerate light frosts, keep out of rain. Huge 5cm yellow flowers appear in winter. Rarely offsets, do not remove, allow plant to have only 1 to 2 pairs of leaves. Shape is controlled by water, dry out until older leaves shrivel.

Slow growing succulent. Will reach 8 to 10cm across will grow 20cm tall in 10 to 20 years. Plant in cacti or succulent mix only. Pots only, covered indoors. Indoors in sunny position. Selaginalla kraussiana 'Golden Spike Moss'

Golden Selaginella is an old favourite in terrariums and planters that rapidly covers the base of terrariums, they require some moisture at all times and also requires a reasonable light; they are excellent for terrarium where there is some ventilation This cultivar is moderately fast growing so will require breaking up and replanting when overgrown, they will not regrow well if cut back. This Spike Moss will only do well in pots if kept in a moister environment.

There are many rare and slow growing Senecios that are compact growers and are well suited fro growing in small pots.

Position - full sun or partial shade. Best in pots in partly protected positions, indoors only in sunny positions.

Watering - can be watered all year round but less often in winter. Keep under protection over winter months from rain.

Feeding - 25% of recommended dosage monthly in growing period. The less fertiliser, the better colour of the plant and more compact growth. Fertilisers high in nitrogen can produce larger plants with less colour.

Repotting - can be left to overgrow their pots, or repotted in the warmer months in almost any well drained potting mix.
