No, they are not.. Truthfully I am not a very responsible plant owner, I have killed many a plant because I forgot to water it... This is how my love for terrariums began, I could have plants, that 1. Watered themselves; 2. The kids couldn't pick the leaves and 3. The cats couldn't dig up..!!! As an example this Terrarium in the middle of winter, 7 months old, never watered and thriving... And how awesome are these fittonia dwarfs 💕..

People ask all the time are terrariums hard to care for?.. Stock is low and no new stock is introduced until the Spring time, when the weather begins to warm again. Many plants do not like the cold elements and winter time is a time when you need to pay closer attention to you plants. Outdoors they can become victim to frost or general cold conditions, indoors they can be killed by not enough light, coldness and home heating methods. It is important to find your plants a happy place to get them through

Winter time at Tassie Terrariums is a quiet time. Outdoors they can become victim to frost or general cold conditions, indoors they can be killed by not enough light, coldness and home heating methods. It is important to find your plants a happy place to get them through the cold winter months. This is super important for your closed terrariums, closed terrariums need adequate warmth to maintain the correct elements vital for their survival. Too cold, equals too much condensation, equals plants rotting and dying. If you notice your closed terrarium has condensation all the time you need to move it to a warmer area.
